This Week In WoW & Other Stuff

Life's A Blur Sometimes!
It's been an interesting week and a tough one too in Real Life but I have managed to keep up with the to-do list I gave myself last week. I had a really productive weekend last week & managed to write up quite a few posts & had ideas for several more. If you've ever blogged, you'll know how hard ideas can be to find sometimes & with all the gold blogs out there now, trying to be original is pretty damn tough!

On Monday I launched a giveaway for a Purple Puffer Fish TCG pet which is still running until late Sunday night 11th August or early Monday 12th August depending on where you live! There's been a great response so far and if you follow me on Twitter, I'll apologise now for the tweet spam for my giveaway!

Also on Monday, Episode 69 of the Power Word Gold podcast was released, the 5th time I've been a guest on the show. We talked about Eric's book (more to come on that soon), spreadsheets, growing ideas, my blogs, loads of shout outs & mentions for various blogs and podcasts too. Jim also asked me for my favorite podcasts so I listed them for him including Eviscerated Gaming Podcast, Tauren Think Tank, Hearthcast & Bitter & Salty. Eviscerated is explicit & not to everyones taste but it is my favorite podcast, in case you were wondering :)

On Wednesday, work got crazy busy so when I woke up Thursday morning with a severe migraine, my boss wasn't best pleased about me missing the day. I had no option though - when the flashing lights part of a migraine are in your direct line of focus, it's impossible to drive or read so I did the next best thing - I closed the curtains, took some meds & slept it off!

Just yesterday, I recorded Episode 10 of The Journal of Marcus Ty podcast with my good friend & co-host Marcus Ty - he's editing out the thunderstorm as I write - that was a fun challenge! We were both worrying in case of power surges etc but I think it turned out to be a good show anyway. I'll be doing a full show notes post once it's released with all the relevant links.

And through all of this, I've managed to keep doing my daily profession cooldowns on all of my alts. There's only one thing left on my to-do list & that's to get my Warrior the Lightning Steel Ingot recipe from Itoka on the Isle of Thunder. My Warrior however has dinged 90 & never been out of the city since! She's in quest greens so from what I can gather from friends & guildies, it could be kinda tough quest! I'll let you know how it goes soon!

Not much of a gold making post I know but I'm keeping my sales for the week until tomorrow's post! I'm hoping for a last minute bump in interesting sales to keep you all guessing! In the meantime, have fun & make more golds!

What's Been Selling This Week? 27th July Edition

I've heard some people refer to this type of post as fluff or filler content & yes, to a certain extent, it is an easy-ish post to write. However, when I look at my blog stats, these posts always have some of the highest page views so I have to go by the numbers & assume that you, my readers, enjoy them or at least, are nosy enough to want to see what I sell!

Sadly I've had another distracted week & have really only been relisting what's in my bags & guild bank. I always start the week with full intent to get back into game & do some proper gold making & crafting but it rarely turns out that way, especially now I have my iPad to distract me too! It is saving me a fortune on my electricity bill though so it's not all bad!

What's Been Selling?

Okay, so enough blathering from me - what has been selling? Well, the crafted PvP items are still selling nicely - mainly the leather & mail items for the best prices but as Windwool Cloth was & and is still so cheap, the cloth PvP items are selling too, just don't show up on the screenie because the prices are lower.

The Living Steel Belt Buckles are the last of my stock as I'm now saving up my Living Steel for when patch 5.4 goes live. I think it's safe for me to say that the general consensus is that Living Steel & Trillium Bars are likely to be in very high demand for Engineers to make their new awesome mount - the Sky Golem!

MySales addon screen

I'm also saving up my Magnificent Hides as my Leatherworker will be busy learning & crafting the new version of the PvP pieces - the first few days of the patch will be crucial as the discovery based system of learning new patterns will make for very little competition at the start. I intend to make a killing on those & my Tailor too!

You can see from the screenie that Netherweave Bags & Mammoth Mining Bags are still going strong - I snatched up a whole heap of Netherweave Cloth for about 3g a stack so I can just follow the market price there - they rarely drop below 15g so it's all profit for me!

I wouldn't normally sell Golden Lotus just on their own but I snagged about 10 stacks for 20g per herb & I haven't been transmuting gems or making many flasks so I thought I'd get rid of a few for some easy profit. Then I logged my Jewelcrafter & saw just how many gems she had for transmuting & kicked myself! Another wake up call for me - I really must pay attention!

And lastly, you'll see a few glyphs in that screenie - I am STILL trying to clear out the last of my stocks so seeing those sales come in is great - especially at those prices but I am definitely not tempted to make any more glyphs - I don't care how good the prices are, they have taken months to sell!

Plan For Coming Week

On my other blog, She Rides Dragons,  I often write about my to-do list for the coming week as it motivates me to actually get some stuff done! I may not do all of it but I do at least get some bits started or even finished occasionally! So I thought I'd do the same here - let's see if I actually get anything done this week, shall we?

  • Check out Enchants market & make scrolls - I know they sell, just been lazy!
  • Do my Cooldowns everyday on Tailor, Leatherworker, 2 Alchemists & Jewelcrafter - gotta get those JC cuts sorted out!
  • Transmute & Cut Gems - another market I've been really lazy about
  • Tailor - finish making those damn Netherweave Bags! All that cloth is clogging up my mailbox!
  • Blacksmith - if I have time, get her to the Isle of Thunder to get the Lightning Steel Ingot plans and start discovering some of the Plate PvP items!
I think that will be enough to get me started, don't you?  Hopefully the next sales report post will have more than just PvP gear & random stuff in it too. Have a great gold making week everybody!

Nev's Daily To-Do List - Downloadable!

Nev's Daily To Do List
Following on from my Improve Your Goldmaking in WoW post a few days ago, I thought I'd share my Daily To-Do list with you. I've transferred it to Google Docs for ease of sharing but I've made it only viewable. Having read a bit more about how Google Docs works, you should still be able to download a copy for yourself but it means that any random edits won't mess up the basic document for others. If you can't download it, let me know either here in comments or perhaps on Twitter @NevAHAddict & I'll have a look to see what's wrong!

So if you'd like a copy, just pop over to Nev's Daily To-Do List & grab it from there. I hope it's fairly self-explanatory - you can add columns for more alts, add rows for other stuff you do regularly or delete stuff you don't do at all.

Bear in mind that this is based on my routine - I may have more time than you or just think in a completely different way & that's ok. The idea here is to make a list that is useful to you so you don't get swamped by all the options - just work down your list & you'll be accomplishing stuff whilst you decide what mood you are in for playing today. I sometimes find that once I've done my banking, I just want to kick back & do something easy like Pet Battles or I may have a bee in my bonnet about finishing a zone or getting to that next level.

Have I missed something that you think is important or useful to others? Let me know - I tend to get distracted easily so having a list works for me but I'm sure there are other things I probably didn't even think of!

I've kind of fallen in love with the ease of sharing files via Google Docs & am working on some more spreadsheets for you. If there are any particular things you would like to see on a spreadsheet, let me know & I'll see what I can do.

Restarting My Weekly EU Sales Updates | Mists of Pandaria Release Date

My lvl 44 Warlock, out of her banking gown & ready to level up

I was a little ways into writing this post when the news hit today - Mists of Pandaria official release date is 25th September! Yay! Eeeeek! Why eeek? Well I was hoping for a mid-October release to be honest. I have a lot of RL stuff to do over the next few weeks which is going to slow down my final preparations for Mists, not least of which is to get my little warlock leveled to 85 as soon as possible now.

But in the meantime, I thought I'd restart tracking & discussing my weekly sales. It used to be a popular post when I was writing more regularly last year & it will be interesting to see how things have changed & will change now going forward. These screenshots represent about 25 days of sales upto the 22nd of July so I'll be posting updates on Mondays (if everything goes to plan of course!). I forgot to make a note of my gold balance but having treated myself to a few expensive mounts, it's under 500k now.

Luckily I'd already made a start on clearing out all the accumulated goodies (aka rubbish) in my various banks to make space. I've also restarted my glyph posting which as you can see from my screenshots, is going quite nicely thank you very much!

I'd also hoarded a fair bit of Netherweave Cloth so I joined in with the bag market although my attempts to push up the price a little has been fairly futile!

Another oldie but goodie source of healthy profits is the Enchanted Thorium Blades being disenchanted for Greater Eternal Essences. At 45 gold each on average, I have managed to raise the price a little although it does tumble back down regularly. I just dip in & out of that market when I like the prices. With the removal of thrown weapons in Mists though, we're going to have to find an alternative cheap source for GEE's - Cold over at Cold's Gold Factory suggested the Wizardweave Turban from tailoring when we spoke about it on the new Gold Bloggers On Air Hangout - a new venture.

One of the newer bloggers, Brandon, managed to herd a bunch of us gold bloggers together on a Google+ Hangout & you can watch & listen to us nattering about gold making over on his blog - Goldshields.  We're hoping it will be a fairly regular thing so if you have any questions or topics you would like us to discuss, leave a comment over there then join us for the next one and of course, you get to hear my British accent :P

One of the nice surprises from my bank clearout was the Arctic Furs - averaging 68 gold each, they are almost at the price they were in Wrath, if I remember correctly. I guess the boom in chopper sales & leatherwork being leveled for the expansion has something to do with that!

I was disappointed with 600 gold for the Mooncloth Robe I found in my guild bank - when transmogrification first hit, I was able to sell a few at 1200 gold each but then I moved away from game & everybody else set the various prices.

Another change coming in with Mists of Pandaria is the enchanting rods - everyone will only need an enchanted copper rod - this is disappointing news for those Blacksmiths who make tidy sums of gold selling the rarer, higher level rods such as Eternium or Arcanite. I only had a little Arcanite Bar in one of my banks & I'd already managed to sell it before this information was released. The general Twitter buzz seems to be get rid of it now unless you have the plans for weapons that use it.

The sheer variety of glyphs selling at high prices has pushed all the other random stuff further down the MySales list but on the first day of bank clearing, I listed over 200 auctions & cleared 4000 - 8000 gold in the first 2 days. I still have 3 more major alts to sort out . Will be interesting to see how much the market changes now with the release date known.

I haven't really sat down & thought through my preparation list of to-do's yet. I definitely want to level my warlock for her Engineering though - I think the new pet battles will make good use of the various Engineering pets but even if they don't, it's the only profession I don't have so it's been bugging me to get finished for a while now.

I also have to re-level skinning - yeah yeah, I know I shouldn't have dropped it but I was racing a guildie to 100 mounts & I wanted the flying carpets so I took Tailoring but I already have 2 tailors so back to skinning for my paladin :)

I'll post my To Do list soon - once I work out what it is myself! What about you? have you got most of your preparation done or are you a last minute panicker like me? let me know in the comments if you like :)
