Saturday Celebrations - Goldtauna, US

This week we welcome an interview from a fellow blogger - Goldtauna. He is relatively new to gold blogging and gold making but he's doing well so far I think!

If you'd like to submit your own gold making Milestone Interview, instructions & more details are on my Milestone Interviews page. Any milestone is suitable - whether it be 100k or 10 million, we want to hear about YOUR story. Don't be shy! You've seen what others are sending in over the last few months so come on - tell us how you've been doing it!

******************
Milestone amount?
200k this week! (Plus a Battle Bear that I am still trying to sell!)
When did you start?
I started gold-making in October after finishing my first year of University
Did you set a goal?
My goal initially was 20k. I really didn't set the bar high for myself
First tips & tricks
Netherweave bags were a great initial start to my gold making. Buying the cloth at 10g a stack and selling bags at 30g
When did you start a banker alt
I used to have a bank alt in Cata, just to send all my items to and stuff. But they got deleted a long time ago. Now I use Taunnie, my level 90 rogue who was previously unloved. She has no professions or anything yet!
Best market over the years
I'm having a lot of fun in the transmog market, with alerts set up on my WoWuction of all the great deals. Another market I enjoy and made a lot from was the Fortune Card market.

Starting over - how?
Level Inscription and tailoring for bags and fortune cards. Once I build enough capital with these, start flipping again until I fall back into the same techniques I use now

Did you reach your goal? Set a new one?
I am well over my goal of 20k. I'm setting goal towards gold cap now, as most people do!

Favorite niche market
I would feel bad for not mentioning the Fortune Cards, but recently more into Battle Pets. These little guys are so fun to sell.
Do you farm materials?
Nope, not unless I am really bored and have nothing to do. I used to farm my Netherweave when the prices went up a lot, and my girlfriend occasionally farms Herbs for me when she is bored.
Lesser known gold making addons
Adibags, while not strictly a gold-making addon, is invaluable with it's bag set up. I really don't know what I would do without my bags sorted like that.
Biggest oops!
Buying Shadowfang for 80k. While I flipped it for a lot more, I did it way too early in my gold-making career. It's also way too niche of an item for my liking and took a lot of work to sell.
Biggest yay!
When I could easily buy my girlfriend a couple mounts she liked and not even think twice. Second would probably be winning a Darkmoon Rabbit on my second time going to the faire! Selling him off soon!
How much playtime devoted to gold making?
At the moment, every minute because I'm bored of SoO. Just sitting around in Orgrimmar most of the time.
Professions
Have one of every profession, with no double ups yet. Plan on levelling more in readiness for Draenor
Flipping
Love it! Buying one item for 20g and selling it for 20k is just so fulfilling.
Vendor pets & pet battles
I love selling pets. They are one of my favorite items, although sometimes I get a little too attached.
Advice for a new gold maker
Read, read, read! There is so much information out there for people to look up! Between Consortium, Nev, PhatLewt and others, they have covered heaps of topics to get you started!
Reward yourself for reaching goal?
Not myself, my girlfriend. I bought her a Sky Golem, which she adores as it 'flies so awesomely! And I can get you herbs quicker!' She is over the moon for it.
Share the blog love - my 'must read' suggestions
Sorry if I miss anyone out:
- PhatLewt's Gold Blog
- Auction House Addict
- Consortium Forums
- WoWEconomy subreddit
- Any blog that shows up on The Undermine Journal basically
And of course, my blog at A Little Bird Gold Me (alittlebirdgoldme.blogspot.com)

******************
Looks like you're off to a great start Tauna - keep your brain in active mode and your eyes open for opportunities and I'm sure you'll be a Millionaire in no time! Good luck with your blogging too - I look forward to reading more from you soon.

20 Days of Gold Making - Participants

Just one week ago, I had a brainwave & my 20 Days of Gold Making challenge was born. Since then, I've had loads of comments & a few emails about it & I've been pleasantly surprised by just how many bloggers have decided to join in. I thought it would be nice to have a central list of everyone who's joined in so far so here it is!

Jason - WowRounded - Brand new blog. I love Jason's post about Leveling Small Guilds

Phat - Phat Lewts Gold Blog - If you haven't read Phat's blog, go & read it now! He has a great written style & really knows his AH stuff.

Dacheng - The Dacheng Diaries / Casual Noob  - This is a new blog to me, not very AH focused but I enjoy Dacheng's written 'voice' so I'll be heading back regularly!

Ross - The Feckless Leader - another newish blog & new to me too. Ross has written a great pet leveling guide if you have 1 or 2 high level pets already. I see my next addiction on the horizon!

Cold - Cold's Gold Factory (He's also made question 1 the topic for his February Gold Blogging Carnival! Thank You so much for your support Cold, mwah!)

Larry - WTB Skill - Another newish blog, from a PvP'ers perspective but Larry has just joined our goldmaking community so I look forward to a very different viewpoint. PvP is a complete mystery to me!

Shaft - Shafts Words - Another blog that is new to me, Shaft has joined the challenge & I look forward to hearing more stories from him too.

Gimp - Gimps Gold - A fellow Brit, Gimp drags me through suicide runs (sorry, I mean dungeon runs!) & makes it look so easy! He knows his AH stuff too & is a regular guest host on Power Word Gold podcast.

Faid - Clockwork Riot - blogger, youtuber & another regular guest host on Power Word Gold podcast, Faid is very knowledgeable & has a totally different style of AH'ing than I do.

Jafo - The Auction House Grind - not such a new blog but newish to me, Jafo has some interesting posts, you should go have a read :)

Farli - The Overcut - Farli is kinda famous for his transmog gold making but he writes about other AH stuff too. He's been afk a little while but he's back now, yay!!!!

Jojo - Admiring Azeroth - a fairly recent addition to my non-gold blogs list but one I read regularly anyway. Jojo describes herself as a noob gold maker so I look forward to reading her answers.

Soco - Vault Of Light - a fellow Brit, fellow gold maker & now on my server too, she writes a variety of stuff but competing with her on the AH is great fun too, she knows her stuff, that's for sure!

Kaitz - Memoirs of a Pet Collector - another new blog to me, Kaitz writes mainly about her pet collecting addition but as I'm just getting started, it's great info! Will be interesting to see how a pet collector makes gold too - keep going Kaitz, enquiring minds are curious :)

Jim - Power Word:Gold - blogger, streamer, podcaster & all around busy guy, Jim hosts the Gold Blog Directory on his site too.

PyrosGG - The Gold Storm - very new to my reading list but already full of great content, well worth adding to your list too :)

Evlyxx - Evangelysm - totally new to me but Evlyxx has been around a while & has decided to join in this fun challenge too - welcome to the madhouse!

Tailswish - Swishco Ventures - I enjoy Tailswishes posts but so pleased to see him return. I look forward to some interesting reads

Candlefly - Candlefly's Gold Adventures - another newish blog but an experienced goldmaker with a fresh view on many things

Xsinthis - The Golden Crusade - Author of the Annual WoW Wealth Survey, Eric has been around a while now & always has a fresh outlook & usually detailed analysis of stuff too.

Richard - Hunter Mastery - Richard's been away a while but he's back now, main focus was hunters & gold, will be interesting to see where he goes next now that he's back :)

Selltacular - Copper to Gold - a brand new blog with Day 1 as his first post! I look forward to reading lots more from him as his Day 1 post has lots of history & I'm nosy to hear more!

Marcus Ty - Gold Blog of Marcus Ty - author of a great Gold Guide (see righthand sidebar for link :P), he has some great articles on his blog. I love his twitter tips too, would definitely recommend a follow there!

Goblin Raset - The Drunken Mogul - a newish member of the gold blogging community, Goblin has just recently joined in with the 20 Days. Makes for interesting reading so far & I look forward to more stories from him :)

Droth - Droth's Treasure Troves of Gold - a brand new blog, kickstarting off with the 20 Days of Gold Making! He's been making gold since Wrath but only just started blogging so pop over & say Hi!

WoWProfitz - WoWProfitz blog - if you don't know my friend, the Clown, he's made a big impact on the blogging, podcasting & Twitter scene since the start of the year. His whole blog is well worth a read & now he's decided to join in here too! Sweet! Go say Hi :)

Wow! what a list hey? Some regular, well known gold blogs in there & it's great to see new gold blogs as well as more general WoW blogs joining in. If you've joined in & I haven't added you to this list, please tweet me (@nevahaddict) or leave a comment here & I'll make sure to add you too.

I do hope you are enjoying reading the answers to my questions - sometimes it's nice to reminisce on old times & just chat about stuff rather than teaching/analysing etc. There are lessons in these stories too which is just an added bonus as far as I can see & finding so many new (to me) blogs is the icing on my cake!

New Blogroll Additions & Guest Post Opportunities

New Blogs & Guest Post Opportunities
When I first started this gold blogging lark, I had no idea how much time & effort it would take to keep it going but I also had no idea how much fun it would be & how many new friends I would make. There were only a few 'big' gold blogs back then & when I got a mention or a response from them, it really made my day.

Now, I don't consider myself in their leagues but I do have an increasing number of visitors so I thought it would be nice to highlight some of the newer blogs I'm adding to my blogroll these days. The gold blogging community is expanding all the time and I would also include the goldmaking Livestreamers & Youtubers in that too - just because blogging tends to be written doesn't mean that the video/audio peeps have any less valid input.

So if you have time today or over the weekend, maybe go say hello to some of these lovely new blogs - I promise you, it will give them encouragement & maybe find you a whole new source of reading material :)

New Gold Blogs

  • First up is a very new blog from Matt a.k.a @mcKinnon81 called Arllan's AH Game - just a few posts for now but I enjoy his writing style & hope to see lots more from him over the coming months.
  • Next up is Xtreme - yay for another female gold blogger (@XtremeAHGuru)! She used to write for Goldgrubs (more about that later) but has branched out & has started her own blog, called The Xtreme Gold Blog. Just a few posts for now but again, I look forward to reading more.
  • I also found another female gold blogger (watch out guys, we're coming out of the woodwork!) but I have no name for her - the blog is called WoW Gold Girl & she writes beautifully detailed posts full of useful information.
  • Not quite so new but just ramping up a bit is WoW Tungsten written by @wowtungsten. Easy to read & well written, I always enjoy his posts.
  • Lastly Auction House on Farm, written by Dealmaker has been going since May but was a bit quiet over the summer & appears to be on a roll recently. Another well written, informative blog that I enjoy reading whenever a new post is published.

Guest Posting Opportunities

Now maybe you have a topic you have some opinions about or a subject you think you have something to contribute to but you don't feel that starting a blog is for you. Luckily for you, many gold bloggers welcome an email to discuss a guest post - I am certainly open to hosting a post for you especially if it's something I haven't already covered!

I'm easy to contact too - you can find me on Twitter @NevAHAddict or email me at auctionhouseaddict@gmail.com - drop me a message or an email & we can discuss your idea further.

Now I also mentioned Goldgrubs earlier - I used to contribute there & if I get an idea for a more basic level post, I'll be sending more posts over there too. It's run by Cold from Cold's Gold factory and his idea was to form a teaching type environment, hence the name Goldgrub's Goblin Academy. With previous contributors such as Wes from Capped by Cata, Rewt from the Hearthcast podcast, myself & of course Cold too, if you submit a post there, you will be in good company. You can contact Cold via Twitter @ssmith0911 or via email on the Contact Us page.

Other New Gold Making Stuff

Lastly I want to mention a new subbreddit, moderated by Cold & Eric from The Golden Crusade called /Goblinism - quite a few regular bloggers are publishing their links there so it's a nice easy way to find information.

It looks as though the main /WoW reddit is also forming it's own goldmaking subbreddit in direct competition with /Goblinism & /Wowgoldmaking. I have no idea why but we'll just have to wait & see how that works out!

Summary

So there you have it - all sorts of new stuff & places to check out - just in case you haven't got quite enough dailies to do in Mists of Pandaria! Oh and I almost forgot to mention my new blog! I'm branching out a little into non-gold making areas of WoW so if you're feeling a bit curious as to how I spend my time when I'm not making gold, pop over to She Rides Dragons and come say hello - I don't bite, I promise!

Have you started a new Gold Blog recently? Let me know & I'll add you to my blogroll & maybe feature you if I do another post like this in the future.
