Hearthstone Beta Key Giveaway on AH Addict

You may have heard of this new Blizzard game called Hearthstone which is in closed Beta right now. I was lucky enough to be given a Hearthstone Beta Key early on but I've managed to get my sticky little paws on another one and as it's almost time for a 1st Birthday giveaway on my other blog - She Rides Dragons, I thought I'd pass on my own good luck & offer it to one of my loyal readers here or on my Dragons blog.

I can't believe it's be a full year already since my baby non-goldmaking blog was born. If you haven't popped over there for a peak, you're missing all my non-goldmaking adventure stories you know! I'm currently attempting to participate in the Alt Appreciation weeks but I'm slowly lagging behind. I keep my to-do lists over there as well & of course my pet battle stuff and anything else I fancy waffling on talking about.

My current addiction is Hearthstone and I have to say that at first I wasn't overly impressed. I've played Magic the Gathering for a few months now (thanks to Cold of Cold's Gold Factory for that addiction!) & Hearthstone just didn't seem as good - at first. But beware! There is still something very addictive about Hearthstone - whether it's the quicker games or the simpler interface, I don't know but I am definitely hooked!

This Week In WoW & Other Stuff

Life's A Blur Sometimes!

It's been an interesting week and a tough one too in Real Life but I have managed to keep up with the to-do list I gave myself last week. I had a really productive weekend last week & managed to write up quite a few posts & had ideas for several more. If you've ever blogged, you'll know how hard ideas can be to find sometimes & with all the gold blogs out there now, trying to be original is pretty damn tough!

On Monday I launched a giveaway for a Purple Puffer Fish TCG pet which is still running until late Sunday night 11th August or early Monday 12th August depending on where you live! There's been a great response so far and if you follow me on Twitter, I'll apologise now for the tweet spam for my giveaway!

Also on Monday, Episode 69 of the Power Word Gold podcast was released, the 5th time I've been a guest on the show. We talked about Eric's book (more to come on that soon), spreadsheets, growing ideas, my blogs, loads of shout outs & mentions for various blogs and podcasts too. Jim also asked me for my favorite podcasts so I listed them for him including Eviscerated Gaming Podcast, Tauren Think Tank, Hearthcast & Bitter & Salty. Eviscerated is explicit & not to everyones taste but it is my favorite podcast, in case you were wondering :)

On Wednesday, work got crazy busy so when I woke up Thursday morning with a severe migraine, my boss wasn't best pleased about me missing the day. I had no option though - when the flashing lights part of a migraine are in your direct line of focus, it's impossible to drive or read so I did the next best thing - I closed the curtains, took some meds & slept it off!

Just yesterday, I recorded Episode 10 of The Journal of Marcus Ty podcast with my good friend & co-host Marcus Ty - he's editing out the thunderstorm as I write - that was a fun challenge! We were both worrying in case of power surges etc but I think it turned out to be a good show anyway. I'll be doing a full show notes post once it's released with all the relevant links.

And through all of this, I've managed to keep doing my daily profession cooldowns on all of my alts. There's only one thing left on my to-do list & that's to get my Warrior the Lightning Steel Ingot recipe from Itoka on the Isle of Thunder. My Warrior however has dinged 90 & never been out of the city since! She's in quest greens so from what I can gather from friends & guildies, it could be kinda tough quest! I'll let you know how it goes soon!

Not much of a gold making post I know but I'm keeping my sales for the week until tomorrow's post! I'm hoping for a last minute bump in interesting sales to keep you all guessing! In the meantime, have fun & make more golds!

You've heard of Christmas in July and as my blog birthday is around Christmas time, I thought I'd have 2 Christmasses this year! Yup, I actually spent some real life cash & bought a TCG card to give away to one lucky reader.

I chose Bloat the Bubblefish card which gives a Purple Puffer Fish when it's redeemed because I love the big puppy eyes on real life Puffer Fish! I'll be honest though - I have no idea if it's a good battle pet or not but one of the Amazon reviews says "Very powerful aquatic pet, good to battle with elemental pets" so hopefully it is a good one! It travels behind you in it's own bubble so that's an added cute thing!

Happy 2nd Birthday Giveaway Winners

Well that week went by quickly! Here we are at the start of my 3rd year blogging here & my first post for year 3 is to announce the winners of the Giveaway.

I had a few entries but sadly only 5 from the EU region so I generated a bank of random numbers & am giving the prize to the 'number' that showed up most frequently.

For my US/Aus friends, there were a few more entries but I decided to do the same again - generate a table & count to see which one turned up most. This was much closer result with 4 numbers tying for 2nd place but by just 1 point, my US winner is @peasap also from Twitter. Congratulations to you & again, let me know which pet you would like & I'll get that to you soon.

So that just leaves the Cinder Kitten up for grabs. I really enjoyed hearing your stories about which pet you'd choose, what you would name it & why. At first, a couple of the references didn't mean much to me but once I found the video link, I have to give the Cinder Kitten prize to @SgtBinary - comparing Richard Simmons to Lil XT is just hilarious as I had no idea who Richard Simmons was(is?)!

So there we go! Time for me to get my debit card out & send some pets around the world. I have a standby plan if I have problems buying from the US store so no worries there :) I just hope I can resist buying them all for myself at the same time! I still have Xmas presents to buy! lol

With Auction House Addict hitting two years old next week & coinciding with Blizzard's pet sale, I thought I'd run a little competition here to celebrate.

I started writing here as a diary for one of my little side projects but to be honest, that didn't make for very good reading & I got very bored of writing it too so I turned to more general gold making topics. It's been an interesting couple of years, made new friends in game & on twitter, talked to lots of different people via comments here & even managed to guest on several episodes of PowerWord:Gold podcast, played AoE trivia against Rewt on Hearthcast & most recently, met Rez & Cold on Eviscerated Gaming Podcast.

It's been a fabulous ride so far, even with a few breaks here & there. I'm looking forward to many more, especially now as I seem to have hit my stride a bit & visitor numbers are climbing! I don't write just for the numbers but it does give me a boost to think so many of you visit to read. Please don't tell my old English teacher that I'm writing voluntarily though, she'll have a heart attack! I was a maths & science girl at school & my English essay homework was always my most hated & usually most delayed subject!

Anyway, down to business! What sort of competition & what are the prizes?

Well I have both an EU & US account so I'm going to be offering  a pet of your choice from the Blizzard Pet Store (NOT including the Cinder Kitty) & there will be 2 winners - one from EU & one for USA.

I know it's not a superduper mega prize but 1 overall winner will be chosen from the comments here - name your new pet & the reason that makes me giggle or groan the most will win a Cinder Kitty - the newest & possibly the cutest pet in store & of course, it's a charity pet too.

How to Enter

1) Starting today, retweet this post & use #AHAgiveaway = 1 entry per twitter account (I don't want to encourage tweetspamming!)

2) Leave a comment here telling me which pet you'd choose, which region (US/EU) & what will you name your pet & why? Each comment = 1 entry

3) Overall winner will be the comment that makes me giggle or groan the most! So choose your wished for pet & get your thinking caps on & you could win a Cinder Kitty. Choosing a Winner

I'll keep two lists (EU/US) of everyone who comments and/or retweets & allocate a number to each. Using a random number generator, I'll get 2 numbers & those will be the pet winners. The Cinder Kitty will be awarded by my choice, once I stop giggling.

Farewell AH Alt - Update & Giveaway

I've been chugging along on this little side project, popping in a few times a day to cancel & relist glyphs but with a max skill level of 150 & the server being changed to a 'New Players' server, most of the glyphs I can craft are selling for 15g-20g. I don't know if it's the new players or not but many of the glyphs are down to just 2g or less. I've been buying up a few, trying to reset prices a little but I've run out of patience now.

Current gold balance is approx 5100g, just a 1400g increase since I started on the inscription only part of the project. TSM has helped a lot to speed up the cancel/relist process but I've decided to call it a day on this little alt.

Rather than just delete her & the gold she's accumulated, I thought I'd offer it to someone out there in the blog world. Are you EU & want to play or already play on Terrokar Alliance side? Leave me a note in the comments & we can arrange to meet in game & I'll trade you the gold, bags & stocks she's got sitting there.

If there's more than 1 response, I'll split it all up & we can have a little farewell party in SW or something.
